Keigo Shimada is a venture investor serving as Investment Associate at Coral Capital, a Tokyo-based venture capital firm. Before joining Coral Capital, he was a consultant at ZS Associates, using data science and AI to support strategic initiatives for major pharmaceutical companies. He holds a Doctor of Science in Gravitation and Cosmology from the Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology), where he published nine peer-reviewed academic papers and received a JSPS research fellowship (DC2). Keigo brings a research-and-data perspective on early-stage investing, AI and data science, and how technical work turns into commercial products. The role provides direct exposure to how a venture firm assesses teams, technology, markets, and early traction in Japanese startups. Keigo is particularly relevant to conversations around fundraising readiness, investor decision-making, data- and AI-driven businesses, and the path from academic research into the startup world.
