About

Ippei Takushima is a corporate lawyer serving as Partner at Kimura Takushima & Yamaguchi, a Tokyo law firm he co-founded in 2011. Before that, he worked for 10 years as an attorney at TMI Associates. He is admitted to the bar in Japan and New York, graduated from the University of Tokyo with an LL.B., and completed the LL.M./Kellogg program at Northwestern University School of Law. His practice covers mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, and commercial transactions such as technology and brand licensing and distributorship, with an emphasis on cross-border deals. He has also taught civil law at the University of Tokyo and international contract drafting at Keio Law School. Ippei brings a transactional lawyer's perspective on venture financing, M&A, licensing, and cross-border contracts. The work provides direct exposure to how investment and commercial deals between Japanese and overseas parties are structured, negotiated, and documented. Ippei is particularly relevant to conversations around venture investment terms, M&A and exit preparation, licensing and distribution agreements, and the legal side of doing business across Japan and other markets.
